First Peek! New Upcycled Vintage Brooch Necklace

My new jewelry passion is taking vintage brooches and turning them into necklaces. I really love this new pendant.

The pendant is made from a fabulous Scottish heart shaped Miracle brooch, also known as ' luckenbooth' brooch, with turquoise colored center stone and a crown set top. I removed the pin backing and filed down the sharp edges. I then attached the brooch to the metal chain with two jump rings.

Luckenbooth brooches are often given at weddings and engagements as tokens of love.

In Scotland from the eighteenth century onwards small plain heart shaped brooches were worn to protect against evil spirits, the evil eye or the attention of the fairies.

The chain measures approximately 16 inches
The pendant is approximately 1 1/4 inches x 1 1/4 inches
